Human-Centered Interaction Methods vs Elements of User Experience
Here are two seminal frameworks describing methodologies for designing with humans or users in mind. The differences lie in the specificity — where Garrett’s UX model describes more what needs to be achieved, Missig’s HCI model describes more of the how-to achieve it. The HCI model takes a softer approach, avoiding objectives and functional specifications. Whereas the UX model shows the process stages from the vantage point of the task, rather than the output. These frameworks have a wide application and can be used cross-functionally to guide end-to-end digital projects or product creation from planning, UX, design, tech, project, and even financial expectations. These are great visuals when combined and tailored to set the expectations for a project for the entire team.
